The YouTube aftermath

I've been watching YouTube since the macbarbie07 days. In fact, I got my style inspiration mostly from the beauty gurus on YouTube. And I can't imagine what I'd be without those youtubers today. Probably the loser I was back in the adolescent days.

But...

One by one, these youtubers are getting more sponsorships, princess treatment and their own clothing line/book/makeup line/tour/music album/etc and they slowly start neglecting their primary career aka YouTube. Which is unfair to the subscribers because they adore and worship you - these even include 11/12 year olds these days and they look up to these stars, sometimes more than they look up to the Hollywood celebrities. And it's not fair that when these "stars" soar high, they forget where they started off from. I know, it happens but it's been a common trend I've been seeing across YouTube. Not naming names or targeting at any one person. This is just general talk from what I've experienced over the past few years. I've seen this happen with more than just a handful of youtubers and each time, I'm just left disappointed. Thus, ended up writing this post. The frequency of videos reduce, the content quality deteriorates (the "just upload something to keep my viewers happy and know that I'm still alive" mindset), not much thought put into the videos anymore, sincerity disappears, pride emerges (not in every case), most videos turn into sponsorship videos.

Message to all youtubers: Honestly, that's not what we subscribed for back in the day and you are where you are because of your subscribers, so remember that and please continue with that amazing editing/content to keep your viewers constantly happy. Be who you are, be different from the others. Doing clothing hauls, tag videos or having that "I'm so uncool yet cool" attitude isn't gonna make people subscribe to you. Work on that Point of Difference (Marketing Concept). If anyone knows any good ones, do leave it in the comments below. I'm all for supporting fresh, good talent.

Once again, I know there is gonna be so much hate after this post but everyone is allowed to have their own opinion and this is mine. If you don't feel the same way as I do, it's completely fine and I have nothing against you. In fact, I understand that everyone thinks differently and is allowed to have their own opinion. This is just mine.
